Spojené štáty si vo štvrtok pripomenú 13. výročie teroristických útokov na Svetovéobchodnécentrum (WTC) v New Yorku a sídlo ministerstva obrany pri Washingtone známe ako Pentagon. V krajine sa uskutočnia pri tejto príležitosti spomienkové podujatia, televízne stanice budú tradične vysielať množstvo dokumentov a špeciálov o tom, aký dopad mali udalosti na USA a celý svet.
Do mrakodrapov WTC, symbolu amerického obchodu, vrazili 11. septembra 2001 dve unesené dopravné lietadlá s cestujúcimi na palube.

Obe veže sa následne zrútili a v ich troskách zahynulo takmer tritisíc osôb. Tretie lietadlo nasmerovali teroristi na Pentagon a štvrté unesené lietadlo havarovalo neďaleko Pittsburghu. K útokom sa prihlásila teroristická sieť al-Kájda, na čele ktorej vtedy stál Usáma bin Ládin. Teroristu v jeho úkryte v pakistanskom meste Abbottabád v máji 2011 zabilo americké špeciálne komando.

Samozrejme, objavilo sa množstvo konšpiračných teórií, ktoré hovoria o tom, že za útokmi stojí samotná americká vláda. Nech už je za to zodpovedný ktokoľvek, pri tomto nešťastí zahynulo stovky ľudí.
